Uncomfortable Faith

whoever said Faith would be a comfortable and painless exercise ought to recieve an award in the Liars Hall of fame. i say this because i hyave seen that faith has never been without pain neither has it been comfortable. there are many examples of Heroes of the Faith and none of these can say it was comfortable.

The major problem with our generation is we desire comfort far above other things, when buying cars we look at the comfort features of the car. We are so used to seeking comfort that at any sign of discomfort we wince away and we tend to hide. God's desire is for us to really understand that faith is not for the faint hjearted hence we have 'warriors of the faith'; men and women who fought the good fight of faith. no fighting is ever comfortable!

some of us have become masters of reading our bibles upside down so that we dont see the things we ought to see and we see only that which we want to see. we have become masters of taking scripture out of contest and we fool ourselves into thinking that faith is very comfortable and when we get uncomfortable we spit it out like a 'bubblegum'.

'when you pass through the waters i will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when you walk through the fire; you shall not be burned neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.' [isaiah 43v2]

many of us have taken the verse to mean that when we pass through the fire and the water we will be comfortable. let me shock you....
the fact that God is with you in the fire does not neccessarily mean that you will not feel the heat you will feel it. waht god's presence will do for you is make sure that you are not burnt beyond recognition.
the fact that Peter walked on water doesn't mean his feet did not get wet they did and his clothes got wet as well even though Jesus was in front of him.(he got pretty uncomfortable) Jesus was there to make sure that Peter would not drown in the sea/circumstances. the circumstances that face you today will not dron or destroy you but you will feel the effects of their presence (uncomfortable)
Many of us are afraid of trusting God fully and go with him into the fire because we treasure our comfort far above other things. what we need to realise is that those few moments of discomfort will set us up for a lifetime of  success.
joseph's stint in prison set him up for his stint in  the palace.
you never know maybe you are being refined to perfection like a cake in the oven or even a brick in the furnace. the fire is makins you stronger in the face of adversity and more palatible to the masses.
brace yourself for there will be more uncomfortable instances ahead of you.

Do you think Abraham was comfortable with the thought of being a father at 90?
Was he comfortable with offering up his son as a sacrifice?
What about Joshua when he was told all he had to do was march around the walls of jerich 7 times?

there you got the answers and you see faith is not comfortable.....if it were you would not learn anything from it; the struggle in your spirit forces you to act and trust me you will act accordingly.

 be blessed
